The point of entry to the framework

P4MGO!® Foundations

Before governing a portfolio, managing a program or launching a Center of Excellence, a common language must be shared: what run and change are, why they are evaluated by opposing criteria, and who manages and who governs. That is what the Foundations teach.

Each track has its own, with its own book, and they are always delivered by Business&Co.® on its campus, so that everyone who works with P4MGO!® starts from the same knowledge, regardless of where they are.

Two tracks, two points of entry

Each professional begins with the track that corresponds to their role.

Those who govern are accountable for doing the right things; those who manage are accountable for doing things right. That is why the Foundations differ for each.

Managers track

P4MGO!® Foundations for Managers

For professionals responsible for managing portfolios, programs, projects, digital products, processes, services and operations. They learn to decide autonomously on everything within their authority and tolerances, to escalate to the Owner, with their recommendation, whatever exceeds them, and to avoid the Manager's two symmetrical errors: deciding what is not theirs to decide, and failing to decide what is.

Owners track

P4MGO!® Foundations for Owners

For professionals responsible for leading them. They learn to govern the initiative without managing its day-to-day: to decide, under delegation from Governance, within their remit, to approve what the Manager escalates to them, and to be accountable for ensuring the initiative remains justified.

Competencies acquired

A view of the entire organization, not just one part.

On completion, the professional will be able to identify the symptoms of fragmentation and of imbalance between run and change, explain the purpose of each discipline, size a transformation using the seven domains and "La Margarita", and recognize where applying P4MGO!® would generate immediate value. They will also have the foundation needed to continue with any intermediate or advanced discipline.

The path

After the Foundations, each professional defines their own path.

The six intermediate courses can be taken in whatever order each professional needs, according to their discipline. The three advanced courses require having first completed change and run, because none of them can be understood without knowing both halves of the organization.

The update of the framework

Already hold P4MGO!® Essentials?

P4MGO!® is being updated; this is not a new version. The underlying content remains the same; what changes is how it is organized and learned, with two tracks and a set of Foundations for each.

The bridge course

For holders of P4MGO!® Essentials, what they have learned retains its full value. The upgrade to Foundations for Managers or for Owners is completed through a free bridge course upon purchasing any intermediate-level course, delivered by Business&Co.® on its campus.
